hot piping slice of pizza book here!

I recently read Ariel Levy's memoir The Rules Do Not Apply. Though "read" is a misleading verb -  no I DEVOURED this book like it was a delicious steaming slice of red and hot pink memoir-pizza, which it was. I can not remember the last time a book flew by so fast, or felt so easy to read.

That being said, her story also infuriated me at times, and when I finished the book I was not sure of what I really thought of this woman or her choices in life. And yet, pretty sure that was her intent - no pretty bows on this one. If you are looking for a memoir that is moving, wildly entertaining and often funny, and yet also sad and disturbing and full of heartache and uncertainty, run to thee nearest bookstore! Below is one of my favorite quotes in the memoir, and good indicator of Levy's prose style, if you're into this sort of thang:

“I wanted what we all want: everything. We want a mate who feels like family and a lover who is exotic, surprising. We want to be youthful adventurers and middle-aged mothers. We want intimacy and autonomy, safety and stimulation, reassurance and novelty, coziness and thrills. But we can’t have it all.”

K, also wanted to share I can't stop listening to Paula Cole's music RN? I blame the rain???
